Peace Day in Tofino

Hey, it's International Peace Day in Tofino. Apparently we are the only city in Canada celebrating the day, thanks to the hard work and vision of John Wynne. Bad me for not posting about this earlier (...but there's that book I'm working on that's taking all my attention... it sure hurt yesterday when I was fused to my computer on a beautifully sunny day!) Hopefully if you're in town you'll be able to take in some of the great events planned for the day. Head on down to the village green. It looks like the weather will be on our side!

I just love this poster, a winner in a children's contest I believe.

  2. Thanks, Sharon. And thanks for making a comment — spread the word! I'd love to have people send in their ideas for posts. I am a bit of a homebody at times so miss a lot of evening events — would love to have some guest bloggers contributing to the site, too.

  3. I just saw your post on Peace Day. Thank you very much for sharing that. I just need to correct one statement. Canada was far from the only municipality celebrating Peace Day. The quote of me in the paper that may have caused this perception said that the Tofino event was the only Canadian Peace Day celebration involved in the Peace Jam, a global live video broadcast of Peace Day events in 25 cities around the world including Paris, Rome, Jerusalem, San Diego, and other much larger communities. Peace Day is celebrated in many ways in thousands of towns and cities around the world.
    Thank you,
    John Wynne.
